Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, generating powerful gusts topping 109km/h.
Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Broad Damage
Homeowners reported giant hailstones as large as 7 centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 households in Victoria also faced energy failures after the capital city recorded its most precipitation in 18 months.
State Emergency Services received nearly 600 calls for help across the state, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

- Hoppers Crossing area - various emergency calls
- Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on Sunday, over 28,000 power users in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
